We got back from the ‘City of Lights’ on Monday after a 5 day trip. We got ourselves a rental car and drove there – about 7hours drive in all. It was quite an experience, after all, it was our first time driving in Europe.
We spent the first 2 days in Paris itself, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. It’s a whole lot different from Switzerland, sights-wise and people-wise. Driving in Paris isn’t easy, it’s a lot like driving in NYC.. quite stressful actually. 🙂 But I loved walking the streets and looking at all the buildings and monuments.. here are some pics..
Welcome to France! 🙂
We saw a street protest while driving in the city.
(didn’t realise that guy’s head when I edited this. :p)
This was the Notre Dame Cathedral… it was really packed so we didn’t go inside.
The Seine – the view along the river was spectacular!
Oh, and you’ve got to have crepes in France! 🙂
Day Two, we ventured out again and saw these…
Rue Mouffetard – a charming street with quaint bakeries, eateries and we found
this delightful chocolate boutique…
And of course, I couldn’t resist buying some. 🙂
Lunch was at a chinese eating house, check out how much a plate of white rice costs – 2.34 euros!!!
Next up was Luxembourg Gardens – it was beautiful and we just sat there for awhile
and soaked up some sun.
A visit to Paris wouldn’t be complete without a visit to …
A bustling street lined with designer houses and the infamous car showrooms. Those are like museums in themselves.. pity I didn’t get any pics of those. 😦
At one end of Champs de Elysees, stood the Arc de Triumphe which
Napoleon built in honor of no other than himself!!!
And our last, but definitely not least, visit was to the Eiffel Tower. We got to see her from this spectacular location across the road, where there was a cafe to enjoy a cuppa and the view.
And closer up…
Ok, there’s the 3 of them touching IT!!
And some fun shots…
Ok.. that’s a mighty long post. 🙂 You can see more pics here. Will be back (hopefully tomorrow!) with a post on our trip to Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios. 🙂
